Terms of Service

Last Updated: 9 October 2026

Effective: 9 October 2026 for new users and for existing users who accept these terms in the app; 9 November 2026 for all other existing users.

‍

1. Welcome to Voda

‍

These terms are an agreement between you and Voda Technologies Limited ("Voda", "we", "us"). They cover our app, our websites (including voda.co, its subdomains, and any other website we operate that links to these terms) and everything we offer through them (together, the "Services"). By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree to these terms, please don't use the Services.

‍

Your information. Your use of the Services is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and share your information. Because of what Voda is, you may share sensitive information with us, such as information about your mental wellbeing, sexual orientation or gender identity. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle this kind of information, including asking for your consent where the law requires it.

‍

The key points, in plain English:

  • Voda is a self-guided wellbeing app. It's not therapy, medical care or a crisis service.
  • You must be 18 or over to use Voda.
  • Your journals, check-ins and plans are private. Anything you post in Voda's community spaces, such as comments and reactions, might be seen by other users, and might be reviewed by our team.
  • We have zero tolerance for abuse. You can report any content and block any user.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Some content is personalised by AI. We label AI-generated content and explain how we use AI in Settings → How We Use AI.

‍

2. What Voda is (and isn't)

‍

What Voda is. Voda is a self-guided wellbeing app for LGBTQIA+ people. It may offer practices, reflections, journaling, meditations and other audio, articles and resources, personalised content, online or in-person events, and shared community spaces where you can connect with others. Voda supports everyday stress, reflection and general wellbeing. It is not a clinical or medical product, and it isn’t intended to diagnose, prevent, treat or monitor any health condition, or to assess your mental health.

‍

What Voda isn't. Voda is not therapy, counselling, medical care or a diagnosis. It doesn't replace support from a qualified professional. Using Voda doesn't create a therapist–client or any other professional relationship, and no one at Voda provides you with individual care. Nothing in Voda is medical, psychological or other professional advice. Not every practice suits everyone, so go at your own pace and stop anything that doesn't feel right for you. Don't use Voda while driving, operating machinery or doing anything else that needs your full attention. You're solely responsible for how you use the Services.

‍

Voda is not a crisis service. If you're in danger, or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, contact your local emergency number straight away. You can also contact a crisis line, such as Samaritans on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, or find support in your country in Settings. Voda may sometimes show you support resources if something you share suggests you may be at risk, but it can't always recognise this. Please don't rely on Voda to tell you when you need help.

‍

AI-personalised content. Some content in Voda may be generated or personalised by AI, sometimes using your activity in the app. We label AI-generated content and credit content written by our team. AI can get things wrong, so please treat what it suggests as a prompt for reflection rather than instructions or advice, and trust your own judgement. You can find out more in Settings → How We Use AI.

‍

3. Who can use Voda

‍

You must be 18 or over. By using Voda, you confirm that you meet this age requirement, are capable of forming a binding contract, and are not barred from using the Services under any applicable law. We may ask you to confirm your age. If we reasonably believe an account belongs to someone under the required age, we'll close it and delete its data, as described in our Privacy Policy.

‍

Your account. Some features need an account. You can sign up using any of the methods we offer, which may include email or third-party sign-in services. If you sign up through a third-party service, we'll receive the information your settings on that service allow us to access, such as your name and email address. Please give us accurate, complete and up-to-date information, and keep it current. If you don't, we may suspend or close your account. Keep your login details private, don't share your password with anyone, and tell us straight away at support@voda.co if you think someone has used your account without permission. You're responsible for all activity on your account, whether or not you know about it.

‍

Access through a partner. If you get access to Voda through a partner, such as an employer, charity or other organisation, these terms still apply between you and Voda. Partners can't see your private content. Any information we share with partners is explained in our Privacy Policy.

‍

4. Community spaces and our Community Guidelines

‍

Voda might include community spaces where you can post, comment, react and connect with other users. These spaces only work if everyone feels safe, so these Community Guidelines apply to everything you post in any community space, now and in the future. We have zero tolerance for abusive users and objectionable content.

‍

Community Guidelines

  1. Be kind. No harassment, bullying, threats, hate or discrimination. This includes attacks based on sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, sex characteristics, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, body or immigration status. Don't deliberately misgender or deadname anyone.
  2. Never out anyone. Don't share anyone's identity, name, location, contact details or other private information.
  3. Look after each other. Sharing your own experience for support or recovery is welcome. Don't post content that encourages, instructs or glorifies suicide, self-harm or disordered eating, and avoid graphic detail so others can read safely.
  4. No conversion practices. Don't promote attempts to change or suppress anyone's sexual orientation or gender identity.
  5. Share experience, not prescriptions. Don't give medical, medication, diagnostic or legal advice to others.
  6. Keep it safe for work. No sexual content, nudity or graphic violence.
  7. Keep it genuine. No spam, ads, scams, links to sell things, impersonation or misleading information.
  8. Keep it legal. Nothing illegal, nothing that infringes someone else's rights, and nothing that sexualises, endangers or harms children.
  9. Voda is a trans+ inclusive space. Voda is made for LGBTQIA+ people, including trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people. Everyone is welcome to use Voda, whatever their beliefs. In community spaces, we ask everyone to use the names and pronouns people share, and not to post content that mocks, demeans or targets anyone because of their gender identity. These rules apply equally to everyone and to everything posted.
  10. Protect your own privacy. Other people might see what you post, so leave out anything that could identify you, such as your full name, address, phone number, email, social media handles, workplace, school or exact location. Share your experiences and feelings, not your details. For your safety, we may decline or remove content that includes identifying information.

‍

How we moderate

  • We may review content before it's published. When something you post is awaiting review, it's marked as pending and only you can see it. We may decline content that breaks these guidelines.
  • Report and block. You can report any post or comment and block any user. Content from users you've blocked is hidden from you. When content is reported, we may hide it while we review it. We aim to act on reports within 24 hours.
  • What we may do. If content breaks these terms, we may decline or remove it, warn you, temporarily limit your access to community spaces, or suspend or close your account. For serious breaches, such as threats or content that endangers children, we act straight away. We report illegal content to the relevant authorities where the law requires it.
  • We'll let you know. If we decline, remove or limit who can see your content, or restrict or suspend your account, we'll aim to tell you and explain the reason, including which part of these terms or our Community Guidelines applied, unless the law or someone's safety prevents us.
  • If someone may be at risk. If something posted suggests someone may be in danger, we may not publish it. Where we can, we'll point the person who wrote it to support resources.
  • Ask us to look again. If you think we got a decision wrong, you can ask us to review it at support@voda.co within 6 months. We'll aim to have a person review your appeal and tell you the outcome.
  • Complaints. You can also contact support@voda.co to report a concern or complain about how we've handled one.

‍

Community content reflects the views of the people who post it, not Voda's. We're not obliged to monitor content, but we may review, remove or restrict any content at our discretion. We take every report seriously.

‍

5. Your content, our content and acceptable use

‍

What "content" means. In these terms, "content" means any text, graphics, images, audio, video, software, information or other material that is posted, generated, provided or otherwise made available through the Services. "Your content" means content that you provide.

‍

Your private content stays yours and stays private. Your journal entries, check-ins, answers and plans belong to you. We don't show them to other users, sell them or share them with advertisers. You give us permission to store and process them, and to let the service providers who help us run Voda do the same on our behalf, to provide and improve Voda, for example by personalising your plans, as our Privacy Policy explains.

‍

Content you post. Anything you post in a community space, such as comments and reactions, still belongs to you. By posting, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, fully paid, royalty-free licence, which we may sublicense and transfer, under any intellectual property rights you own or control, to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, shorten or translate), distribute, publicly display and perform, and share it, within the Services, to improve and develop Voda, and for other purposes such as social media and communications. You're responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.

‍

Our content. Everything Voda creates or provides through the Services belongs to Voda or our licensors. That includes all practices, exercises, articles, written and audio content, visuals and graphics, design, software, our name and brand, and any content generated or personalised for you. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial wellbeing. Please don't copy, sell, redistribute or create commercial products from it without our written permission. The Services and our content are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws in the UK and other countries, and you must not remove, change or hide any copyright, trademark or other ownership notices.

‍

Using the app. Subject to these terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to download, install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. We keep all rights not expressly given to you. Except where these terms or the law allow, you may not copy the app (other than a reasonable number of backup copies), modify it, create derivative works from it, distribute, transfer, sublicense, lease, lend or rent it, or make it available to multiple users.

‍

Feedback. We welcome feedback, comments and suggestions about Voda ("Feedback"), which you can send to feedback@voda.co. By sending Feedback, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, fully paid, royalty-free licence, which we may sublicense and transfer, under any intellectual property rights you own or control, to use, copy, modify, create derivative works from and otherwise exploit that Feedback for any purpose, without owing you anything.

‍

Acceptable use. When using Voda, please don't:

  • post, upload or share content that infringes anyone's intellectual property (including copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or moral rights) or their privacy or publicity rights
  • post, upload or share content that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, vulgar or offensive, or that could expose Voda or anyone else to legal liability
  • post, upload or share content that is violent or threatening, or that promotes violence, discrimination, hatred, harassment, or illegal or harmful activities or substances
  • break the law or these terms, or encourage or help anyone else to
  • access or use another person's account, or collect or store other users' personal information without their permission
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, scrape, copy or resell any part of the Services, except where the law allows
  • access, tamper with or use non-public areas of the Services or our systems, or those of our providers
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach or get around any security, authentication, safety check, moderation or other protective measure
  • interfere with anyone's access to the Services, or overload, flood, spam or otherwise disrupt them
  • use bots, crawlers or other automated tools to access or extract from the Services, or use Voda content to train AI models
  • upload viruses or other harmful code
  • send spam, chain letters or other unsolicited advertising or promotions
  • forge headers or send altered, deceptive or false source-identifying information
  • pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your connection with any person, organisation or Voda
  • use the Services for any commercial purpose or for the commercial benefit of anyone else
  • frame, mirror or copy any part of the Services or their layout and design, or use Voda's name, logo, branding or product names (including in metadata or hidden text), without our written permission

‍

Our right to monitor and act. We're not obliged to monitor access to or use of the Services, or to review or edit any content, but we may do so to operate the Services, to check compliance with these terms and to comply with the law. At our sole discretion, we may remove, restrict or disable access to any content at any time and without prior notice, including if we consider it objectionable or in breach of these terms. We may investigate breaches of these terms or any conduct that affects the Services, and we may consult and cooperate with law enforcement authorities, including to prosecute users who break the law.

‍

Links to other websites and resources. The Services may contain links to third-party websites and resources, including support services. We provide these links only as a convenience. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, products or services, or for any links on them. You're solely responsible for, and accept all risk arising from, your use of any third-party websites or resources.

‍

6. Purchases

‍

Voda offers free resources and features, and Voda+ unlocks more. Prices are shown before you buy and include any taxes required by law.

‍

Voda+ subscriptions (monthly or annual)

  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price you agreed, until you cancel.
  • Free trials become paid subscriptions at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends. We'll tell you the trial length and the price before you start.
  • To cancel, use the platform you paid through, for example your Apple ID subscription settings, Google Play subscriptions, or if you paid on our website, your Voda account or by contacting support@voda.co. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
  • Price changes. We'll tell you in advance before any price increase applies to you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

‍

Lifetime Membership. A one-off payment for access to Voda+ for as long as we offer it. If we ever close Voda+ or Voda entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can.

‍

Gifts and redeem codes. Voda+ gifts and redeem codes give the period stated when they're bought or issued. Codes can't be exchanged for cash. Please redeem them by any expiry date shown.

‍

Scholarships. We offer free or reduced-price Voda+ to people who need it, through our Scholarships programme. Scholarships are personal to you, can't be transferred, and can be ended if they're misused.

‍

Stars and other in-app items. Stars and any other virtual items in Voda are free unless we say otherwise. They have no cash value, can't be sold, exchanged or transferred outside the app, and aren't your property. We may change, limit or remove them at any time, including if they're misused, and they end when your account ends.

‍

Your right to cancel and refunds

  • App Store and Google Play purchases: Apple or Google handle refunds under their own policies. You can request a refund through them.
  • Website purchases: UK and EU consumers usually have 14 days to cancel a digital purchase. When you buy, we'll ask you to agree that access starts straight away. Once you've used the paid features, you'll lose the right to cancel within 14 days. If you cancel before that, we'll refund you.
  • Faulty or misdescribed services: you have legal rights if something you've paid for isn't as described or doesn't work properly. Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Contact support@voda.co and we'll look into it.

‍

Apart from your legal rights, we consider refund requests case by case.

‍

Future features. Your purchases aren't based on the delivery of any future features, and don't depend on anything we've said, in writing or otherwise, about future features. You're paying for Voda as it is when you buy.

‍

7. Using Voda around the world

‍

These terms apply wherever you live, except where your local law gives you rights they can't override. In that case, those rights apply and the rest of these terms still stand.

  • You're responsible for using Voda lawfully where you are. You confirm you're not in a sanctioned country or on a sanctions list, and you'll follow all applicable export control laws. We may restrict access in some places to comply with the law.
  • In some places, being LGBTQIA+ can carry personal risk. Think about who can see your device and notifications, and what you share.
  • If we translate these terms, the English version applies where the law allows.
  • If you live in the United States, the arbitration terms in section 9 apply to you.

‍

8. Changes and your account

‍

Changes to these terms. We may change these terms from time to time, at our discretion. For significant changes, we'll give you reasonable advance notice (usually at least 30 days, or longer if the law where you live requires it) by email, in the app, or both. Changes needed for legal, security or safety reasons, and minor changes such as clarifications or corrections, may take effect immediately when we post them. Please review the terms whenever we tell you they've changed. If you continue to use the Services after changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms. If you don't agree, you must stop using the Services and may delete your account. If a significant change affects you and you have a paid subscription, it will apply from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

‍

Changes to the Services. Voda is always evolving, so we may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, at our discretion. If we remove something significant that you've paid for, we'll tell you in advance where we can, and you can cancel.

‍

Suspension and termination. We may suspend or terminate your account, or your access to all or any part of the Services, at any time and at our sole discretion, including if you break these terms, if we need to in order to protect others, or to comply with the law. Where you've broken these terms, we may do this without notice. Otherwise, if you have a paid subscription, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can. We'll aim to tell you why and how to appeal, unless the law or someone's safety prevents us.

‍

Ending your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting your account may not cancel a paid subscription, so please cancel it separately through the platform you paid through.

‍

If Voda closes. If we decide to stop offering the Services, we'll give you reasonable notice where we can.

‍

9. Legal terms

‍

Warranty disclaimer. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, QUIET ENJOYMENT OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY THAT THE SERVICES WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR ACHIEVE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT, OR THAT THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE ON AN UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE BASIS. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY REGARDING THE QUALITY, ACCURACY, TIMELINESS, TRUTHFULNESS, COMPLETENESS OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT.

‍

Indemnity. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you will indemnify and hold harmless Voda and its officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claims, disputes, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal and accounting fees, arising out of or in any way connected with (i) your access to or use of the Services or any content, (ii) any content you provide, or (iii) your breach of these terms or the law, except to the extent caused by our own negligence or breach of these terms.

‍

Limitation of liability. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NEITHER VODA NOR ANY OTHER PARTY INVOLVED IN CREATING, PRODUCING OR DELIVERING THE SERVICES OR CONTENT WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA OR GOODWILL, SERVICE INTERRUPTION, COMPUTER DAMAGE OR SYSTEM FAILURE, OR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES OR CONTENT, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), PRODUCT LIABILITY OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT VODA HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE, EVEN IF A LIMITED REMEDY SET OUT IN THESE TERMS IS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. WE ARE ALSO NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DECISIONS YOU MAKE BASED ON CONTENT IN THE SERVICES, OR FOR LOSS CAUSED BY EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR REASONABLE CONTROL. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL VODA'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES OR CONTENT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU HAVE PAID TO VODA FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR, IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD ANY PAYMENT OBLIGATIONS TO VODA, FIFTY US DOLLARS (US$50). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. THE EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF DAMAGES SET OUT ABOVE ARE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF THE BASIS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN VODA AND YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW.

‍

App store terms. If you downloaded Voda from the Apple App Store, you may use it only on Apple-branded devices and as allowed by the App Store's Usage Rules. These terms are between you and Voda, not Apple, and as between Apple and Voda, Voda alone is responsible for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app doesn't meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple and it may refund the purchase price. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other warranty-related claims are Voda's responsibility. Apple isn't responsible for addressing any claims about the app or your use of it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them against you. If you downloaded Voda from another app store, such as Google Play, that store's terms also apply. In all cases, you must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile carrier's.

‍

Law and disputes. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or in the courts of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there. If you live in the EU or elsewhere, you also keep any mandatory consumer protections and rights to go to court in your country. We'd always rather sort things out with you directly first, so please contact support@voda.co. If you live in the United States, the arbitration terms below apply to most disputes and take priority over this paragraph.

‍

Resolving disputes in the US. If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@voda.co. Most issues can be sorted out quickly and informally. If you live in the United States and we can’t resolve it together, then unless you opt out, you and Voda agree that any dispute relating to these terms or the Services will be resolved by binding, individual arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act and the American Arbitration Association’s consumer rules, rather than in court, except for claims that qualify for small claims court. This means you and Voda each give up the right to a jury trial and to take part as a plaintiff or class member in any class action or representative proceeding. Similar claims filed together by the same law firm or group may be handled in batches. You can opt out within 30 days of first agreeing to these terms by emailing support@voda.co. This applies only to disputes that arise after you agree.

‍

General.

  • Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any terms shown when you buy something, are the entire and exclusive agreement between you and Voda about the Services. They replace any earlier written or oral understandings or agreements between us about the Services.
  • Transfer. You may not assign or transfer these terms, or your account, by operation of law or otherwise, without our prior written consent. Any attempt to do so without our consent has no effect. We may assign or transfer these terms freely, for example if Voda is acquired, and your rights under them won't be reduced. These terms bind and benefit both parties and their successors and permitted assigns.
  • Severability. If a court decides any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest still applies.
  • No waiver. If we don't enforce a right or provision of these terms, we haven't waived it. A waiver only counts if it's in writing and signed by an authorised representative of Voda.
  • Remedies. Except where these terms say otherwise, using one remedy under these terms doesn't prevent either of us from using any other remedy under these terms or the law.
  • Notices. We may give you notices, including about changes to these terms, by email or by posting them in the Services. Emails count as received on the date they're sent.
  • Third parties. Apart from Apple and its subsidiaries, as explained above, no one else has rights under these terms.
  • Survival. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends, such as ownership, licences you've given us, disclaimers, limits on liability, the indemnity and dispute terms, will continue.
